December 2006 Writing Prompt Contest

December 2006 Writing Prompt Contest

Do you use writing prompts to help you get started? If so, we are looking for creative short stories, or story segments that originated from a writing prompt. Winning entries in this contest will be published in a "Writing Prompts" e-book which will be distributed free of charge to new subscribers to our OnceWritten.com newsletters to help them see what other writers do with Writing Prompts.

To Enter

To enter, select one of the following writing prompts and incorporate it in some way in a 500-word writing exercise. Our guidelines are VERY flexible for this contest, and great writing is far more important than strict adherence to prompts or word count.

Prompt 1
By mid January, her resolutions had alrady come hurtling back to smack her upside the head.
