Live Story Telling |
The Story Salon Southern California's longest-running, regularly performing, live storytelling ensemble. Entertaining, engaging, and provocative, with subject matter ranging from the surreal to the confessional, Story Salon is apt to bring a tear and then a laugh... Helmed by host, Beverly Mickins, The Story Salon has been meeting at Jennifer's Coffee, in Studio City, since 2000 and in the San Fernando Valley since 1996. The weekly meetings offer regulars, a motley group of professional and neophyte writers, a forum for sharing the joys and foibles of life in and outside of Los Angeles. The public is invited to participate, and the rules are simple: Five to seven minutes of original material performed by the writer. That's it! This policy, a fostering of free-range writing, turns a Wednesday night in the Val into one of the most eclectic and inspired performance hours in town. 818.762.0181. www.storysalon.com |
