Skye Dunbar desperately needs a vacation. The highly ambitious computer programmer is hoping the seclusion of an island in the Pacific Northwest will help bring closure to a painful breakup. The London native rents a small cabin in the picturesque San Juan Islands of Washington State where she plans to relax, reflect and get her life back on track. But a mysterious stranger suddenly turns Skye’s holiday plans upside down. A local fisherman with a seductive smile may be exactly what Skye needs to get over her disastrous relationship with Michael.

Jedediah Walker is a man on a mission. The marine biologist is in a race against time to find out who’s responsible for poisoning fish in Puget Sound. Dozens of dead marine life have washed up on the shores of the San Juan’s and Walker fears the toxic dumping could soon endanger people. Walker knows solving this crime needs his full attention but he’s distracted by a beautiful vacationer who is renting his rustic cabin. The attraction is intense and mutual but he’s suspicious of this secretive woman whose unexpected arrival seems highly suspect.

“Walker watched Skye in the moonlight, and could see she was fighting an inner battle, and wondering if it was the same battle he was fighting. There was no denying she was beautiful, just as there was no denying he wanted her, but he was also sure that somehow she fit into the investigation, but he just couldn’t figure out where.” Skye is hesitant to let down her guard and get involved with another man who may mistreat her. Her trusting nature and high powered profession has put her in jeopardy before. Skye and her business partner, John are on the cusp of gaining international notoriety for developing a cutting edge computer program. But she never expected her job skills would once again put her safety at risk. Skye dismisses her better judgment and falls hook, line and sinker for the smooth talking Walker.

Was she really attracted to this arrogant, complex, but devastatingly handsome man?” Suddenly, Walkers’ search for the polluters gets personal after someone hacks into his computer and vandalizes his Seattle office. He’s determined to expose these dangerous criminals and fears the woman who has stolen his heart may be involved with something more sinister.

Three Weeks Last Spring by Victoria Howard is an engaging romance novel with well developed characters. The fast paced plot keeps the reader intrigued until the very end. This is a debut novel for Victoria Howard who lives in South Yorkshire, England.
