From the final chapter:
Writing is a wonderful way to bring what you see and do into sharper focus. When you write about ordinary experiences as simple as taking a walk or eating at a favorite restaurant, you expand that experience by giving it texture and depth that it wouldn't otherwise have. Writing forces us to look attentively at what we see and to interpret it, as well as to remember it.
Write because you've always wanted to write, or because you used to enjoy writing, or because you've always thought that you can't or can or should write. Write because you've been told that you have interesting stories to tell, or because you realize that you do. Write because you're bored or sad or happy or disappointed. Write because you have a problem to solve. Write because you're unable or unwilling to do anything else at the moment, or simply because you want to. Write to find out who you really are, regardless of your age or situation.
Remember to observe, think, and write. The results may surprise you!
